ADA Compliance Policy 

The Institute for Liberatory Practice is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all program participants. We strive to ensure that the Foundations of Social Justice in Counseling training (and other training) is compliant with all federal, state, and local laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our goal is to provide equal access to all participants, regardless of disability.

Accessibility Features

The course will be delivered using Zoom, with the following accessibility features to accommodate participants with diverse needs:

    • Closed Captions or Live Transcript: Real-time captions or live transcripts will be enabled for all Zoom sessions.
    • Accessible Course Materials: All course materials, including slides, handouts, and evaluations, will be provided in accessible formats compatible with screen readers.
    • Recording and Playback: Recorded sessions will be made available with closed captions for on-demand viewing.

 

Requesting Accommodations

Participants are encouraged to request reasonable accommodations at least 10-14 days before the start of the course. This timeframe allows us to arrange necessary support services, such as sign language interpreters or alternative material formats. Accommodation requests can be made by contacting:

Grievance Procedure

If participants encounter any accessibility issues or feel their needs have not been met, they may file a grievance by contacting:

 Complaints will be addressed promptly, and resolutions will be communicated within 10 business days.

 

Review and Compliance

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure continued compliance with ADA requirements and to incorporate feedback from program evaluations. To ensure ongoing compliance and improvement:

    • Training: Staff and instructors will receive regular training on accessibility best practices and legal requirements.
    • Feedback Integration: Participant feedback on accessibility will be actively sought and incorporated into future course offerings.
    • Annual Review: This policy will undergo an annual review to align with any updates in federal and state accessibility laws.
